Garry Stevens was born in Montrose, and lived in various parts of Scotland before moving to Bristol at the age of 13. He is married with 2 daughters both in full time work, and he lives in Inverbervie where he moved from Bristol in 1989.

Garry has been employed in Local Government since 1992, commencing employment with Grampian Regional Council in the Finance & ICT department as an Assistant Arrears Officer in the Community Charge Team. Following re-organisation he was employed a Senior Customer Contact Officer responsible for the Management of the front-line enquiries team for Council Tax, Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit enquiries in Aberdeen City Council

Garry accepted the opportunity of a secondment to the post of Financial Services Manager in November 2007 to cover for Alistair Blues, who is undertaking the introduction of a new web based ordering system across the Council. Part of the duties of the Financial Services Manager includes Clerk to the Burgess of Guild.

Garry is looking forward to working with the Dean, Assessors and Burgesses in developing areas such as the website, social events and carrying out the duties of Clerk to the Burgesses of Guild in an effective, efficient and supportive manner.

Outside of work, Garry is a keen hill walker, particularly climbing Munros, keen on music and sport. particularly football and golf.
