Homestart Aberdeen – Request for Trustees

Garry Stevens No Comments

HomeStart Aberdeen have some vacancies coming up on their board of trustees and it may be  some of our Burgesses might be interested in joining them, either as a trustee or a business advisor. These are voluntary roles.

HomeStart Aberdeen has been supporting families who may be vulnerable or suffering from isolation for the past three decades.  Their trained volunteers provide these families with regular emotional and practical support in their own homes, helping them to avoid crisis and breakdown.  Additional group and specialist services are offered on each family’s specific needs. You can find more information about them in their latest annual report : http://www.homestartaberdeen.org.uk/download_file/view/284/213

As you can imagine, all charities are struggling in the current economic climate and so sustainable funding is their number one priority.  So trustees who are well connected in the city are invaluable  particularly for fundraising initiatives, trustees who are their ambassadors and willing to make that initial introduction or connection with an organisation, or trustees who know a man/woman who might be able to help.

There are specific skills they would like to bring to the board , for example, legal including a knowledge of procurement and health and safety.  They are also seeking a new treasurer.

The board meets 6 times a year.  In addition, they have a number of sub-committees which each meet on a quarterly basis.  Trustees would generally be involved in one sub-committee.

If any burgesses might be able to help, Anne MacDonald, Chair would be happy to have a chat. She can be contacted on the following email address:

Chair@homestartaberdeen.org.uk
